BBQ Pork Bao Bun (Dairy Free)

Serve:3-4

Ingredients for the stuffing:

300 gram                   Minced pork

1 clove                         Garlic-finely chopped

2 tbs                            Barbeque sauce

1 tbs                             Oil

1 tbs                             Sugar

1 tsp                             Oyster sauce

1/2 tsp                         Light soy sauce

1/2 tsp                         Ginger puree

Ingredients for Bao Bun

500 gram                      Self-raising flour

400 ml                           Coconut milk

1 pinch                           Salt

 

 

 

 

Method

– Put the oil, garlic, minced pork, BBQ sauce, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, ginger puree, pepper and sugar into the frying pan. Fry until the sauce evaporated and minced pork become dry (approx 20 minutes). Then add the salt and set aside.

-For the bun, mix the flour and coconut milk into the mixing bowl. Add a pinch of salt and fold all the ingredients together until the mixture turns into dough.

-Dusting the work surface with flour, then shape the dough into the long tube. Add the flour if it’s too sticky. Equally cut into 16 pieces.

-Flatten each roll into a round shape 4-5 inches diameter.

-Put 1-2 tablespoon of BBQ minced pork in the middle of the circle. Pull and fold the sides over the fillings, pinch the edge together to seal.

-Lay the greaseproof paper on the bottom of the steamer, add the buns and steam for  16-20 minutes.

-Tadah! Your very own BBQ Pork Bao Bun is ready for you to enjoy.

Tips:

-Remove the lid of the steamer quickly to reduce the chance of excess water which might drop on the buns. However, be very careful as it the steam will be very hot.
